Loft in Camargue : Vinyard redesigned – UNDER OFFER

Mas in the countryside with a loft and a traditional house  surrounding the Camargue nature near Arles

Henri immediately spotted on the evolutionary potential of the “Mas Camarguais”. Stéphanie was a bit difficult to convince, “what hard work to do” ! : The annex of the Mas, was a little abandoned. The high ceilings and rough roof, would provide an incredible playground for a young architect.

The Mas, is a true parallelepiped and has two antinomic parts : a space renovated in a traditional manner, and in its extension transformed in a contemporary loft with generous volumes, corresponding to the old annexes. The exterior architecture of the property has been perfectly preserved and renovated respecting traditional constructions.

The farmhouse looks like the Camargue nature, all in contrast. This restoration combines the architectural biases between tradition and modernity, with the use of innovative materials, such as corten for stairs, polished concrete for the floor, valchromat for the kitchen, as well as materials in the respect constructions of camarguais mas.

This mas, offers 340m2 of living space, is located in a village near Arles, on a plot of 1.6 hectares, surrounded by nature Camargue.

The entrance of the house overlooks the Loft of 130m2, bathed in light by metal canopies all width facing south. It is organized in different living spaces. It includes a lounge area, a fireplace in the DRC, a dining area, a kitchen located half a level above. An additional level above, a  largely bedroom, with its independent bathroom and a spacious other bedroom in continuity which can be used as a dressing room.

The other part of approximately 210m2, in the extension of the loft, is more traditional looking and is composed of a living room and its chimney, and an office in RDC and upstairs, 2 other rooms with each its bathroom.

Arles :10mn, Aix en Provence :50mn, Nîmes :35 mn, Saint Rémy de Provence :30mn and Marseille :1h00mn.

Our favorite for the volumes and brightness of the loft. This out-of-the ordinary place, in  Camargue, offers many perspectives of evolution and trasformations.

An old chapel and mechanical workshop located in a Camargue village near Nimes.

When they arrive from North Africa, Francoise and Jean settle down in the South of France, close to the sea in a town typical of the South Gard.

They move into part of an old domain which had been divided including a chapel and a hangar. The couple transform the hangar into a mechanical workshop and live in the house adjoining the chapel. House which had been used as a school during the war.

This property of approximately 750m2, opens onto a courtyard surronded by a high wall. The domain of eco-lodges sets in the heart of the countryside in an unique naturel environment near Saint Remy de Provence.

Subtle combination of nature and design sit in the typical mediterranean vegetation. The buildings are timber-framed and wood-clad with sumptuous panoramic views of the valleys lying all around.

This tourist site was designed to reduce a maximum the global environment footprint. It consists of four 50m2 lodges, a 13m2 maritime container, a seminar room of 120m2 and a 200m2 house, all on a plot covering 10700m2.  The estate benefits from a priviledged location, at the limit of the a building zone in the foothills of a South of France mountain range.

The Global Architectural Plan designed a series of single-story buildings, slotted into the slope thus minimising their visuel impact from the road in and on the surrounding countryside.

To the East is the parking area, parallel to this is the West facing seminar room, the terrace and the swimming pool.  A housing unit with private terrace is in the North end of the building.

Following the desire to provide visual screens plus wind protection from the mistral, stone walls in the form of gabions, structure the footpaths and organise the different areas. To the South sited on a slight slope to reduce vis-a-vis and hence improve privacy are the 4 eco-lodges: 3 of wood-modular design and 1 a maritime container.

Each lodge, comfortably furnished , summer lounge and dining area, gives onto a wooden terrace  The architectural choice was give to a feel ‘inside/outside’, the entire design fits into the surrounding nature .

The particularity of this project lies in an architectural approach which is both respectful the environment and uses state- of-the-art technology thereby establishing a dialogue between the simplicity of the materials chosen and thermal perfomance.

Around the square : Environment respectful wood house near Uzès

An architect house with wood frame, in a unique environment, near Uzès

Anne-France and Olivier, during a motorcycle ride discovered a charming little square house deep in the forest.

At the end of a path, they discovered a field in the middle of the oaks, to one side a field of sunflowers and on the other vineyards as far as the eye can see.

Olivier, interior architect, has redesigned this little house creating modules all around, that become a haven of peace surrounded by nature.

In the Gard, between Alès, Nîmes, Quissac and Uzès, this contemporary bioclimatic , wooden construction, offers 213sqm, on a plot of approximately 3000sqm with a swimming pool.

The house overlooks to the east the hill and its medieval village and to the west to the the woods.

The ground floor consists of : a dining area, (and its utility room), then the living room, and finally the more intimate units (2 bedrooms and 1 sports room). The first floor is dedicated to the parental suite.

The house has a double car garage, and the car park is out of sight.

This house is 20mns by car from Alès 30mns from Anduze, Nîmes, Quissac and Uzès.

Our favorite : the views from the house. Where ever you are, you can always admire the surrounding country side.
